We are grateful again for the opportunity to share some highlights of our Auction #355 scheduled for November. We are fortunate to always have large groups of covers, U.S. stamps and WW stamps so we will just hit the highlights now.

In the cover section, a key piece would be the cover with (2) $5 Prexies and others used correctly in inner bank mail (Lot #6). There is a very nice group of Canadian Semi-Officials Airmail with excellent variety and value. There are a host of Zeppelin covers, U.S and German. Other cover lots include Italian Offices, stampless, maxi cards, topicals, FDC handpainted and stationery.

The U.S. section includes a 10X1, 10X2a, 99, 215 Block of 12, sheets of 614-621, Farley, press sheets, plate blocks of C13-C15, O68 used, 17P1 large die proof, 1213d and much much more.

In our worldwide section, the highlights include China 1042-1045, Germany Airmail Zeppelin sets NH, the U boat stamp, Uruguay 282-284 (only 500 sets printed) and so much more.

Sale 37 contains a wide selection of better type coins for the collector along with a few certified Indian & Lincoln Cents in higher grades, many original Lincoln Cent Rolls 1939 to 1948-D, a nice array of Seated Halves, and an 1844 Seated Dollar. The gold coin section offers (8) Certified Half-Eagles along with another (9) Certified Double Eagles. The currency section is highlighted by some better notes including a “Martha” and a $1 “Educational” among the large-size. Our typical offering of bullion silver, mint and proof sets, modern commems, etc., and a nice selection of Israeli Medals are also worth mention. Our September Auction #354 is another bright spot in our auction history as every section has something special.

Among our 280 cover lots is a U.S. #113c Bisect with 2024 PSE certificate, collections of air covers, Civil War related, military, naval, patriotic, space, topicals, Zeppelins and more.

In the U.S. stamp section there are #3, #4, #139A with a 2024 PSE cert, #293, pair of #467 and many large and small groups.

Our Auction #353, July 9th-11th, has many exceptional singles, sets and larger lots. We are again very strong in U.S. and WW covers with many air covers including first flights, Navals, topicals, Prexies, Patriotics, Zeppelins and unusual Parcel Post. Our auctions continue to contain good value and great variety and it is true for our May Auction #352. We have a strong list of cover lots and it starts early in the auction as lot #3 has an only known cover, a QE2b. There are some nice groups of flight coves, fancy cancels, some rare Special Handling with tags for bees and chicks. Good cover accumulations abound! There is a nice selection of Confederate covers, another group of seldom seen Specaal Handling covers, and a very strong section of German covers.

Our U.S. singles continue to grow with items like #78c, 99, 100, 120, 141, 182, 187, 263, 293, 467 and many more. There is much to see in the BOB section including Officials, Newspaper and Special Handling. Our other U.S. sections of accumulations and collections are bulging with good quality stamps.

Coin & Currency Sale #34 is noted by an excellent array of ancient coins. Be sure to check lots 314 to 333. Other highlights of the sale are a nice run of Bust & Seated Dimes, a 1916-D Mercury, a few scarce Liberty Seated Halves, a Lafayette Dollar, plus a wide variety of Morgan Dollars. Gold coin offerings are extensive with over (30) coins hitting the auction block, including (8) Half Eagles and (7) Double Eagles among them. Plenty of bullion gold and silver is available in the form of gold and silver eagles and an abundance of 90% silver. The sale is also strong for foreign coins w/ many of the gold issues represented. Our Sale #351 has a large variety of stamps and covers, accumulations and collections.  In the cover section there is a #16 XF on cover to California.  A Pearl Harbor cover dated 8 Dec 1941 is very interesting.  Our lot #36 is another group of Pearl Harbor covers.  There is also a beautiful collection of USS Argonaut covers with pictures and annotations.  A submarine cover collection with different handpainted by  Gow NG is one of the best we have seen. A special delivery collection is exceptional.  Lot 105 contains over (600) postal cards IDed with varieties. A #324 Louisiana Purchase cover is attractive.  There is a strong collection of Fluegel.  Among the worldwide is a nice lot from the World Trade Center.  Of special interest is a Japan C1-C2 on cover.

The U.S. singles and box lots are abundant with better items, many cataloguing more than $1000.  Our accumulation and collection lots are very reasonable and do very well. Continue reading…….

Our February auction includes a comprehensive representation of US Gold featuring five $3 princess pieces along with six double eagles. The early copper section contains an 1810 over 9 Large Cent (Sheldon-281) in PCGS AU50. Prospective bidders will also find an expansive offering of Bust Halves as well as many other attractive type coins and sets. The token and medal section is loaded with interesting selections, and there are ample ancient, middle ages, and other worldwide to choose from including a Prussian 1907 5R Proof. The auction also has the largest run of foreign gold coins we have ever offered in a single auction.

Our January 2024 Sale #350 is again full of exciting and interesting lots.

One of the strongest areas in the philatelic market is covers. From postal history to postal stationery there has been a solid interest.  We have a strong showing in almost every area.

Again, we are fortunate to have a very attractive selection of U.S. singles from #1 to Back of the Book. There are many multiples of Officials and Revenues.  This sale contains several nice accumulations and collections.

We are pleased to announce our Sale #349, November 14th-16th, has a variety of interesting items to which we would like to draw your attention.

Among our cover lots, there is a lot of (42) FAM22 with many scarce flights and unusual destinations. There are numerous groups of naval covers. A very interesting group of registered covers with over (200) prexies will do well; along with WWII patriotics with many sought after cachet makers. There are some very nice FDCs with a variety of cachet makers. Germany cover lots are strong in this auction, and there is a very nice Greece cover collection.

In our Coin & Currency Sale #31, most series are reasonably well-represented but Seated Dimes, Barber Quarters, Bust & Seated Half Dollars, Trade Dollars, Morgan Dollars, and vintage US Gold deserve particular mention. A large number of British Coins 1600 – present grace the international section. And, among the numismatically-related items with historical significance is a gold medal awarded by The Pennsylvania Society to Civil War surgeon William W. Keen in 1928 containing over 7 troy ounces of .999 fine gold. 360 total lots – our largest to date!

Our September Sale #348 is packed with interesting and better material. The highlight has to be the full sheet of U.S. J92 dull gum. The 4¢ dull gum was only recently listed in Scott after discovery of some plate blocks in 2016. This sheet was found in a consignment among a group of random U.S. as part of a future auction lot. The owner had no idea what it was.

This auction is somewhat smaller in number of lots but larger in value. The U.S. singles section is largely one man’s lifetime collection.

The auction closes with a fabulous dealer stock lot that is filled with great individual items from beginning to end!

Among classic rarities, the sale is represented by a 1793 Chain Cent (F2), an 1804 Draped Bust Cent (Fine Details), a 1916 Liberty Standing Quarter (G), plus 1889-CC (VG) & 1893-S (G+) Morgan Dollars. For those interested in ancients, we offer a Macedon gold stater of Alexander the Great NGC-Certified VF with a “5” strike (“2” surface due to use in jewelry.) Worthy of final mention is an interesting error coin and a nice variety of large and small-size paper currency.
